Today, I heard a story about John Kavanaugh, the philosopher, who went to visit Mother Teresa to seek her counsel about the next steps in his life journey.
After weeks of serving beside him with the Brothers of Charity, she asked if there was something she could help him with. He asked her to pray for him, that God would give him clarity of vision, a prayer that I often pray and is a big theme of this blog.
Mother Teresa smiled gently and shook her head. “I can’t do that,” she replied.
Bewildered, John Kavanaugh stated that she always seemed to have clarity, always seemed to know exactly what she was supposed to be doing.
“John,” Mother Teresa chuckled, “I have never had a day of clarity in my life. What I have always had is trust. So I will pray that you will learn to trust.”
Here’s to trusting God in these unclear days!
Be Blessed and be a blessing!
