Oh goodness! The Lord is excellent at correction. It amazes me!
I am so often caught up in my own supposed brilliance and effectiveness at my job(s) that I start to become a glory hoarder.
Thankfully that the Lord doesn’t allow me to fall victim to myself for very long.
“Don’t think to yourself, My own strength and abilities have produced all this prosperity for me. Remember the LORD your God! He’s the one who gives you the strength to be prosperous in order to establish the covenant he made with your ancestors—and that’s how things stand right now.”(Deuteronomy 8:17, 18 CEB)
It was my false sense of personal excellence that led me to every past sin that crippled me and brought me crawling back to the Lord. Some of you know how low I had gotten or how dark the tunnel can get from your own personal experience. I don’ t want to end up that distraught again.
As you read this, are there places in your life that still need submitting to Jesus? Are there things that you still try and take credit for and ultimately steal glory from the Lord?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil. (Proverbs 3:5-7 NIV)
Seriously… Let’s get real right now. You deserve death and Hell. He gives you life and salvation and has blessed you with countless earthly blessings today.
I say countless, but it might help if we actually start counting those blessings.
The least we can do is stop stealing that glory.
What usually keeps you from giving God all the glory? Is it a struggle with feeling that He deserves it? Let’s discuss.
