Taken from my Deeper Study:

John 16:20 “I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.”

The world doesn’t get it. But we as Christians do. We have a different calling…a different standard..a higher expectation. We are not called to living good lives. We are called to holiness. We are not called to be better than the next man. We are called to seek perfection. We are not called to live clean lives, but to be spotless and blameless. Because this is our calling, we first see our need for a flawless savior. As we align our lives against His we see our devastatingly inferior shortcomings. Seeing the mark set so high, but our achievement reach so low, WE MOURN. This week’s passage calls us to mourning as a sign of heavenly blessing. Today’s verse: “I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy,” reminds us that we will mourn in a way that is in opposition to the world’s mourning. We stare our sin in the face and mourn at its existence and then find comfort in the realization of our savior, Jesus Christ. The world refuses to recognize their sin and in turn does not exalt Jesus and does not accept their need.

This week let us not neglect the righteous Order of Operations: First we must see our sin, then we must know that Jesus takes care of it for us.
 1. We must face it . 2. Jesus will erase it.

Have you truly faced your sin? Or similar to the world are you still running in denial from it?
